I've been keeping hamsters for about 7 years now. Hamsters kept includes Syrians, winter whites and roborovskis. And yes, i'm Mad About Hamsters!
I got my first pair of hamsters in 2003. They are a pair of pearl winter white and they are simply gorgeous. Both of them are imported from Holland and they are named Snow and Flakes.
Because of Snow and Flakes, my love for hamsters grew stronger. I started keeping other breeds of hamsters such as roborovski & syrians. Of the different breeds, my favourite is the syrian hamsters because i find them more responsive.
I used to breed winterwhites but because of many irresponsible breedings by irresponsible breeders, the strains of winterwhites have become very unpure. Most of them are hybrids and i find no reasons to continue breeding them. I turn my attention to breeding syrian hamsters. Because there are no hamster shows in Singapore, Syrians are not bred to follow show standards. Local syrians are usually very small in size & the shape of their head are usually long & sharp. I seek to improve that aspect in my syrians and i'm proud to say that most of my syrians have rounder heads than common local syrians. I'm currently working on my yellow line to produce nicer tortoiseshells & yellow syrians.
