Hamsters boarding @ MadAboutHamsters!

MadHamsters. Posted by MadHamsters. at 08:14 AM on December 14, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Kiwi (normal winterwhite), Cola (sapphire winterwhite) & 7up (pearl winterwhite) will be boarding here for a period of 1 week. All 3 of them are females.

Here are some photos to keep their owner updated.

Cola:

I like this photo most among all the photos taken. She look so relax here.

7up:

I think she look uber cute in this photo. She looks like she's covering her face but she's actually cleaning herself.

Kiwi:

I was told that she bites but she seems oddly comfortable with handling. smile

The 3 of them does'nt eat much & there's always leftover food.

I gave them a little bit of organic food to try & they love it! Offered them vegetables but only 7up & Cola finish their share. Kiwi does'nt seem to like it even when i place it directly infront of her face. unsure

They have similar sleeping area. All 3 loves to sleep under the bottle(beside the wheel) in their individual tanks. haha!

I'm a little more bias towards 7up because she reminds me of my first pair of pearls.

Like my first pair of pearls, her coat is almost pure white without the black dorsal!

But fret not, they are equally showered with TLC. big grin

The Golkys.

Here are some updates of the Golkys.

The golden banded & satin black have went to their new homes last week & the new owner of the satin golden banded will be picking him up soon.

Photos are in random arrangement of the different ages.

Far too many pictures taken & i couldnt figure out how old they were in each photo. wink

They are much bigger now. I'll take some updated pictures of the remaining pups & update soon.

Satin Golden Banded:

He have the nicest band with the right amount of white. I'll try to take some picture of his back view soon. If you notice, he looks like he has mascara on. lol

Black Tortoiseshell Banded:

She's the smallest but has already catch up with the rest.

Dont be fooled by her innocent look. She love snatching food from the rest and store them at her favourite corner. When the others approach, she'll wrestle them away. mad

Satin Golden Tortoiseshell:

Well, her yellow markings dont look obvious here because of her satin coat.

It made her coat so shiny that i could hardly tell that she's a tortoiseshell now. The yellow patch on her face was much more obvious when she was younger, before her fur started to grow thicker.

She's the biggest & dont mind the fur. They were sand bath before these photos were taken & the sand has not been fully swept off. smile

Satin Self Black:

She looks 101% like her dad!

She's like the mini version of Spanky. Both of them have this baby-face that makes me want to tickle their belly. lol

Golden Banded:

She has the most photos taken because she's the most photogenic out of the 5.

Look at her eyes. Sometimes i'll call her Panda because she have black eye ring. lol

In the carrier, preparing for her new home:

(She just couldnt stop eating!)

Out for a walk:

After looking at these photos, i miss them even more.

I hope they are doing well in their respective new homes. smile

Gone to good homes!

LH self black boy went to Heavenly Hamsters & have been named Riley.

These are pretty outdated photos but they better than nothing. :P

His recent photos can be found at Heavenly Hamsters' webpage.

This SH yellow boy went to Alfred along with the SH black tortoriseshell from Racoco.

He is brother of Cheddar & Nugget. I only had him for an hour before Alfred came to pick them up so there's only 2 photos of him. wink

Him, with black tortoiseshell from Racoco.

Here are some more photos of the Black Tortoiseshell from Racoco.

On the same day, the self black & cream dominant spot from Snusheys was picked up by their new owner. These 2 are hard to part & i especially like the self black because of his size & mischievous character. He's the most active one in the litter & also very photogenic. smile

On the other hand, the cream dominant spot is very gentle & calm.

He's the total opposite from his brother. He can fall asleep easily on my hand for as long as an hour! Sometimes, he reminds me of marshmallow. He look yummy. Haha.

LH black banded boy from Snusheys is now named Yoshi.

He went to a close friend of mine & is very spoilt with a big cage & lots of toys. big grin

LH black tortoiseshell from Pooflions have went to her new home with Patrick..

Pictures @ 26 days old:

Pictures @ 1 month old:

Golden dominant spot from Blaze have also been rehomed to Patrick.

Black Dominant Spot Banded from Blaze will be going to his new home on Sunday.

I'm going to miss this little fella as well. He reminds me of  "the little batman" from Snusheys. lol

It's always sad to rehome any one of them but i'm glad that they have all found wonderful homes. smile

Sleeping hamsters.

This batch of babies is a shared litter from Blaze, a long haired golden dominant spot banded syrian.

This litter consist of a self black, a black dominant spot banded, 2 golden banded, 2 golden dominant spot, a golden tortoiseshell dominant spot & a golden tortoiseshell.

I'll be keeping the golden tortoiseshell dominant spot & rehoming the black dominant spot banded, golden dominant spot and golden banded. Out of the 3, 2 have already found homes.

The black dominant spot banded will be going to Warren & the golden dominant spot have already went to his new home with Patrick. smile

Here are some shots taken from my phone when they were 3 weeks, 4 days old.

Please excuse the quality of the pictures.

& we have a bunch of sleepy hamsters that day!

They must be exhausted from handling them the whole day. lol

Updates - finally!

MadHamsters. Posted by MadHamsters. at 01:11 PM on December 04, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Sorry for the lack of updates - been busy lately.

Now, there's so much pictures to blog that i dont know where to start from. lol

So, i'll be splitting it into a few post.

For this post, i'll be introducing 5 new syrians.

Clockwise direction: SH black tortoiseshell, SH yellow, LH yellow black, SH yellow.

(Picture is taken on the day of collection. They are about 3 weeks old then.)

The 3 short hair syrians are from a breeder & 1 of the yellows went to Alfred.

The long haired yellow black is sired by Ferret & the dam is a borrowed LH black tort from Pets Club.

They have a litter of 4 pups consisting of 2 black tort, 1 yellow black & a runt which didnt make it.

The followings are pictures of the individual pups:

Cheddar, SH yellow(male).

Nugget, SH black tortoiseshell(female).

Bacon, LH yellow black(male),

Other than the 3 pups, there's also an addition of 2 older syrians. A LH dove & a LH self black.

This is Kochka, the LH dove syrian, approx. 6 months old. I was attracted by his long & silky coat.

I thought it would be a good idea to pair him with FuzzyBear because both syrians have reasonably long coats.

This is Dark Knight, the LH self black, approx. a year old.

It's love-at-first-sight for him. Who could have resisted him? Just look at how beautiful he is. :P

Baby madness!

With 8 babies running around in the 3ft bin cage, the bedding is soiled very quickly.

Placed the 8 of them in a carrier when i'm cleaning their bin & decided that i should snap some pictures of them.

Who knows i ended up with 200 over pictures! Took a long time uploading all of them & here are some out of the 200 pictures. Be warned, pictures overload!

All 8 of them snuggling up to one another. big grin

Rawr!

This black boy have a very sweet face. smile

Here are the individual shots.

Black Dominant Spot Banded Boy from Snusheys:

He have always been my favourite out of this litter & he's always referred to, as Batman. lol

His new owner came to pick him up today & i'm already missing him.

Cream Dominant Spot Boy from Snusheys:

Self Black Boy from Snusheys:

Black Banded Boy from Snusheys:

Love this photo. Look at his tongue. tongue

Dont mind his powdery face.

This greedy boy burried his face into the bowl of wheatgerm & rolled oats. wink

Black Tortoiseshell w/ white Girl from Racoco:

HHamsters told me she is the biggest in the litter & i'm not surprise.

Just look at the amount of food she stored in her cheekpouch. She cant even close her mouth! unsure

Black Tortoiseshell Girl from Racoco:

She've this yellow spot on her forehead & i think it's kind of cute. big grin

Black Banded Boy from Racoco:
He's the sleepyhead. He fell asleep on my hand for about 20 minutes and it made me take notice of the cute spot on his tummy. :P

Self Black Boy from Racoco:

And here's a video to share. Enjoy. smile

The Pooflions - 11 days old.

MadHamsters. Posted by MadHamsters. at 06:19 AM on November 11, 2009 Comments comments (1)

They are 12 days old today & i'm glad to say that there are no more casualties after removing baby food from their diet. The pups are starting to wander about and they knows where they are able to find food!

I know the overturned foodbowl is kind of distracting, just ignore it. :P

The Zerrets - 15 days old.

Just cleaned their bin yesterday because the only pup has opened her eyes.

I'll be keeping her & thinking of naming her Chorkie or something nicer if i could think of one. lol

She's so lovely & i'm very pleased with her markings. smile

From the side, she look like she's having a yellow collar on. big grin

Here's the proud mama stuffing her cheekpouch full of tissues.

I've added in a wheel this morning & Zebra is so happy running on it.  smile

Introduction of Racocos to Snusheys.

MadHamsters. Posted by MadHamsters. at 05:10 AM on November 11, 2009 Comments comments (2)

A big thank you to Heavenly Hamsters, the Racocos are here!

The Snusheys have been separated from Snuggles to allow her to rest.

& i've decided to introduce the Snusheys to the Racocos before the boys leave for their new homes.

The girls will be kept together until 7-8weeks old before housing them into their individual tanks.

The introduction was a success. I was quite worried because the Snusheys are alot bigger but after observing them for an hour, I was relieved to see them cuddling up to one another.big grin

Pictures was taken in the neutral tank when i introduced them. The 8 of them are now housed in a large 3ft tub. big grin

Here are some photos, requested by HHamsters.

Look at how sweet they are, sleeping together!

Aww.

This boy thinks that he's an ostrich. I cant find his head. lol

And here's the tired looking Snuggles. She can finally get some rest! smile

The black & black banded boy from The Racocos are available.

If interested, please drop me a mail. smile

Updates on the other litters.

MadHamsters. Posted by MadHamsters. at 12:04 PM on November 09, 2009 Comments comments (1)

The Pooflions:

This litter is quite a disappointment. The babies are dying one by one leaving only 3 today.

One of each colour, a yellow, a black & a black tortoiseshell. Reasons for their death is unknown but i suspected that the baby food  could be the reason behind it since it's the only thing i've introduced to the hamsters recently. The bodies of the pups are still intacted & it's so heartbreaking to see them.

It's so sad to see Poofy trying to nurse the bodies of the babies & i have a hard time clearing them because she is so protective of her babies. Food can only distract her for a short while.

*finger crossed for the remaining three*

The Raggles:

Like the Pooflions, the only 2 pups from this litter didnt make it as well. sad

Bodies are still intact & i've decided to stop feeding the hamsters baby food just incase the baby food is the cause of death for all the pups.

The Zerrets:

The only pup for this litter is doing well. I'm begginning to relax on this litter because Zebra have done a good job  nursing her. Another 2-3 days before the baby open her eyes. Cant wait to clean up the bin. smile

The Golky:

Goldilocks delivered 8 pups on 8th November.

She have her nest at the corner of the tank & it makes it very easy to see the pups.

Here's the only picture of the litter before Goldilocks return to her nest.

You can only spot 6 of them here. The other 2 are dragged out of the nest when Goldilocks left for food.
